Hand study
Fine-Art (Sculpture) - Bristol (University of the West of England) 2000.
Materials: Steel, Wood, Red clay, Vinyl, Micro-crystalline wax, Paraffin wax & Crayon.

: A rigid, welded steel armature is constructed to support the clay sculpture.

: The completed clay hand.

: A mold is made with a Plaster of Paris jacket..

: Melted vinyl is poured into the plaster jacket. This flexible inner core captures the detail of the clay hand.

: Once the clay hand is removed fro the mold, a pigmented mix of micro-crystaline and paraffin wax is painted into the 2 halves of the mould. The 2 parts are then joined.
